 | About Us Focus on Youth, Inc. is governed by a five member Board of Directors. The Executive Director reports directly to the board. Department Heads, Supervisors, Training Coordinator, Family Resource Specialist, and Community Awareness Specialist report directly to the Executive Director. Youth Specialists provide supervision of youth in placement, foster family support, recertification of homes and coordination of community services. This position reports to a Supervisor, Youth Specialist and Family Assessors perform the same duties of the Youth Specialist and may also perform homestudies and family assessments for new foster homes and foster to adopt homes. This position reports to a Supervisor. Family Resource Specialist recruits and screens potential foster parents, assists with training of licensed foster parents, develops agency newsletter and helps maintain website, researches grant opportunities, and assists with review and coordination of placement referrals. This position reports directly to the Executive Director. Community Awareness Specialist identifies and coordinates agency’s community activities and community presentations, coordinates fundraising activities, assists with recruitment of potential foster parents and agency volunteers. This position reports directly to the Executive Director. |
 | Cindy Skinner, MSW, LSW Executive Director Certified Nurtured Heart Specialist Cindy is the founder, Executive Director and CEO of Focus on Youth, Inc. She is a 1982 graduate from Freed-Hardeman University with a Bachelor in Social work degree and a University of Cincinnati graduate with a Master of Social Work degree. Coming from a long line of foster parents, as her own parents, grandparents, and aunts were foster parents Cindy was surrounded by relatives who believed you can make a positive difference in the life of a child. She chose to become a foster parent then adoptive parent, too. These experiences and her passion to help children are valuable assets she brings to her foster parents and staff. For many years Cindy has actively served on boards of state associations including currently serving the Ohio Association of Child Caring Agencies and previously serving the Ohio Family Care Association. She has served on legislative committees as well as governor shareholders groups. You will find when it comes to advocating for youth and families she is equally comfortable training at a state conference or talking to the Attorney General. You can be sure that the foster families of Focus on Youth are well represented and much loved by our director, Cindy Skinner. |
