Welcome to Focus on Youth...

Focus on Youth, Inc., founded and incorporated on February 5, 1992, is a non-profit, faith based foster care and adoption agency.  We are located in southwest Ohio and serve neighboring counties by licensing quality foster homes.  The primary services provided by Focus on Youth, Inc. are:

  • Recruitment and licensing quality foster homes, both traditional and treatment foster care;
  • Matching skilled families to youth according the special needs of the youth;
  • Provision of mental health therapy for youth and families, and
  • Professional training and development programs for foster parents, adoptive parents, and licensed social workers.

This website will inform you about who we are, what we do and how we do it.   Our staff has over 100 years of experience in foster care and adoption, not only as social workers, but also as professional foster parents, adoptive parents, and siblings to foster and adopted youth.  Our well trained, skilled staff will assist you with making the best decision for you and your family on becoming a foster family. Because of our experience in screening, assessing, training, and licensing foster parents, we offer quality homes that provide stability, structure, and nurturance to children and youth who are in need either through foster care or adoption.

We are proud to be a Nurtured Heart agency drawing from principles and concepts laid down by Howard Glasser.  The Nurtured Heart Approach is an effective parenting intervention for youth of all ages that builds relationship between the parent and youth and in the process transforms the youth's difficult behavior into successes.  This approach is being used in a wide variety of settings, including treatment foster care, with wonderful success.  The Nurtured Heart Approach is the primary parenting model embraced and taught at Focus on Youth, Inc.

Our programs and services are governed by all applicable Federal and public laws, MEPA, the Ohio Revised Code  (state law), Ohio Administrative Code (Ohio Department of Job and Family Services rules), and Focus on Youth, Inc. agency policies.

To experience who we are and to feel the warmth of our agency, we extend an invitation to you to call and talk with us further about fulfilling your desire of becoming a foster parent.  You may want to look at our agency newsletter, the “Youthful Times”.
